Questions

Does it file anything with OSHA?

No. It helps you keep the records and shows deadlines – you report and submit yourself.

Do small companies need it?

Employers with 10 or fewer employees all last year are partially exempt from keeping the OSHA logs, but every employer must report severe injuries. Construction is not on the low-hazard exempt list. Check osha.gov.

Does my state have different rules?

States with their own OSHA-approved plans can have extra rules. Check with your state plan.

What the Job Site Injury & Incident Log does

Log every injury, illness, near miss and first-aid case with the date, time, job site and what happened. Each entry shows whether it looks recordable and why, and severe injuries show the reporting deadline (8 hours for a death, 24 hours for an in-patient hospitalization, amputation or loss of an eye). Recordable cases fill an OSHA 300-style log, with privacy cases handled, and a 300A-style annual summary ready to post. Print an incident report for any entry.
